There is a huge house in Telliskivi Creative Hub – M-Building that, like the Berlin Wall, divides the district both mentally and physically. It is the largest in the district. It includes former factory facilities now used as a car park and exhibition space. There are also several bars and cafés.

The passage splits the mammoth building, linking the largely separate worlds of the district.

It provides spatial experiences, especially when passing through the spacious production facilities marked by valuable interior and exterior features.

Various historical layers of industrial architecture can be experienced in the passage. The earlier fragments from late 19th century, the latest from the second half of the 20th century. The most recent intervention is a tunnel-like passage of a steel mesh that is both visible and invisible in nature.

The shapes marking the entrance are portals of industrial architecture, our complement to the multi-layered and picturesque conceptual architecture of the building.

The tunnel structures are temporary that can be dismantled and used to build outdoor facilities in the district.

The diverse environment of Telliskivi developments has been created primarily by the users. The solution for the M-Building did not have a precise architectural design either, it has grown and has been grown as needed. Whenever a new space was required, another piece was added. It is thus “self-generated architecture” growing out of the needs of the former manufacturing facilities.

Architects intervened in the process only recently.
