Located right at the heart of the city, Pärnu Independence Square is directly related to the place where the independence of the Republic of Estonia was first proclaimed (on 23 February 1918 on the balcony of former Endla theatre). It is a modern open space allowing for various ceremonial events while on daily basis functioning as a traditional city square. Minimalist in style, it comes to highlight its historic context. On hot summer days, there is the illuminated fountain on the centreline invigorating the senses.
