What is architecture? What is a good space like and how do we recognise it? These and many other questions seek answers in the given TV series. The authors wished to show that our daily living environment deserves to be noticed and explored. Everyday spaces are full of exciting discoveries, enriching our daily life.

The topics included:

  1. Architecture is near (home)
  2. Architecture is felt (senses)
  3. Architecture has a meaning (ideas)
  4. Architecture is everywhere (living environment)
  5. Everything can be architecture (culture)
  6. Architecture is co-creation (city)

The series grew out of the daily work with children and youngsters in Arhitektuurikool. We developed content for altogether 10 episodes, with six of them produced in cooperation with the Estonian Public Broadcasting. The series is primarily for basic school students but suits well all viewers interested in spatial issues. We involved people and activities from various fields of life, starting from a media consumption study on the target group up to the original music composed especially for the series.

Mentors of Arhitektuurikool wish to develop young people’s spatial awareness to make them better equipped for contributing to the development of future living environments. In addition to teaching, Arhitektuurikool also develops various ways and means to bring basic knowledge about architecture and living environment to youngsters so they would grow up as caring citizens. The series is the most recent example of such activity.
