The pine forest, where the four houses are located, is a landscape of small transitions and changes. The gentle rises and falls of the ground and the zig-zagging of the trunks carry over into the architecture. The key unit for the form of the buildings is one room and each room in the four buildings has its own relationship with the surrounding nature. The rooms step back and forth in relation to each other, capturing all the small peculiarities of the landscape. Indoor and outdoor spaces are seamlessly connected – the terraces link the buildings into a single whole and create an outdoor area that functions as a large living room.
The complex consists of four volumes: two summer houses, the main building with a large kitchen and terrace, and a sauna. The closely knitted walkways and terraces both connect and separate the buildings. The large terraces opening to the forest allow you to enjoy solitude while the deck between the outdoor kitchen and sauna is clearly meant for interaction. This is where families and friends can come together to prepare meals, spend time, make a fire in the fireplace and tell stories.
